How does the Bagua relate to my Health?

Most of you reading this are familiar with the pictured Bagua.  The Bagua has many layers of meanings.  It mirrors what is happenings in our home, office, car, landscape and various aspects of our body.

Here is a little refresher:   Your front door is usually located by career or helpful people and travel.  Your backyard is usually  behind wealth & prosperity and love and marriage.

So what does each Gua represent in the body?  Here we go!

The Career Gua symbolizes the ear, and subconsciously as your ability to really hear others and listen to opportunities- both abilities that are important to success in one's career and moving forward on your life journey/ life purpose.

The Knowledge & Self Cultivation Gua represents the health of your hand and ability to effectively handle situations.

Feet problems and the ability to move forward onto your life's journey/ purpose are symbolized by what's occurring in your Health & Family Gua

Clutter in the Wealth/Abundance Gua can result in financial duress and possibly HIP and JOINT pain as well.

Your Fame area represents both your ability to have healthy EYE sight and promoting your Professional Reputation plus your ability to see things in proper perspective and focus.

The Love & Relationship Gua is not only a metaphor about your healthy romantic relationship with your partner, but also the health of your ABDOMEN and ORGANS as well.

The Children and Creativity Gua symbolizes joy, fun and imagination in your life. It is where you learn to speak up for yourself and clearly state your intentions. If you have problems in this area it will likely affect the health of your MOUTH and THROAT.

The Helpful People and Travel Gua mirrors brain and HEAD activity. Placement issues in this area might indicate not having a clear focused head to face life's challenges.

The Earth center is the most important Gua.  This is like the center of a bicycle wheel.  If the center works the wheel goes round and round just like your home.  If the center is well grounded then all the other Gua's should be easy to maintain and enjoy.  Have you guessed what the Earth center represents?  The HEART, your overall HEALTH.

Remember all the Gua's can be represented in each space/room.  You can lay the Bagua over your home, your desk and room by room.

Have fun learning to design with your Health in mind!

Feng Shui and PTSD

Feng Shui and  PTSD

In today's world 7.8% of people will experience PTSD at least once in their life. This can occur from an array of tragedies, trauma, abuse, and so on.  I have friends/family who have been diagnosed with having PTSD from having a loved one commit suicide, attempt to commit suicide, being devastated by world news, who have been sexually assaulted and the list goes on.

I share this because in a world where we see more of what is happening instantaneously there is more of a chance that more people will experience PTSD at least once in their life.    It is good to know first of all that you are not alone.   Secondly, their are tools that you can use to help create a sanctuary in your home or office so that you feel uplifted and safe.  (Of course working with your doctor on PTSD is the number one thing you should do! What I am going to share are additional tools to help you and do not replace working with a physician.)

Tool Box Tips

  1. Declutter your home and office.    These spaces could be reminding you of the trauma in the past.   Is there anything in your spaces that reminds you of the past that is a trigger?   If so, let go of those items.  Donate, recycle or repurpose those items.   You want to look at your space and feel uplifted and empowered, especially on those days that you are most sensitive.
  2. Learn about the Emotional Freedom Technique also known as tapping and free yourself from your past.
  3. Create a routine for when you are triggered.   You most likely know how often your PTSD is triggered and by what.   If not, start journaling so you can discover patterns to what are triggers for you and how often.    We know that there will be triggers.   Create a routine to help you manage daily when a trigger occurs.    Here are some possibilities as to what this could look like:    Wake up and play gentle music, use essential oils to get you started on the right foot, have art/photos on your wall that bring your joy and feeling of love, be mindful of what you eat and drink to create joy in the body for example, sugar creates added stress and will add to the pain, discomfort and memories.   Start playing with works for you!    Be open to creating your plan designed for you by you!
  4. In your health and family gua, make sure that everything in this space reminds you of who you are today and all that you have in your life as far as your health and well being and supportive family.    Don't have family pics of anyone who you are currently fighting with or in disagreements with, this will lower your energy.  Once everything is better with that friend or family member you can reintroduce their photo into your space at that time.  Are the photos of you present day or from the past?   Choose the present day photos to empower the present you.  Past photos from the same time period of the trauma can be a trigger.
It is important to recognize that we are always growing and evolving and that there isn't a one size solution for everyone.  Pick and choose what you resonate with and what empowers you.

Your home is a reflection of who you are and where you are going, or it can be holding you in the past and hard to let go, forgive and start a new path.

Which Gua Should I work on first? Am I stuck in a certain area of my life?

Feng Shui Bagua

Look at each Gua area of your home and determine:
· What do I like/dislike about the space?
· What do I like/dislike about the things there?
· What memories and associations are held in place by these things?
· Do I feel comfortable and safe?
· Is it organized?
· How does it correlate with the associated Gua area?
· What specific improvements or enhancements can I make?

Spring is in the here! Make changes. Decide what you want today! I remind myself of these same things. When I am stuck in a certain area of my life, I need to look at that Gua and re-evaulate and say what changes do I need to make in here, how is my life changing and how are my dreams and goals changing. Then make those changes based on the new you and what the new you wants!

Great philosophy!

Chinese New Year- Year of the Rabbit- February 3rd, 2011

A year of serenity, very much welcomed and needed after the ferocious year of the Tiger. We should go off to some quiet space to nurture our wounds and get some rest after all the battles of the previous year (and I think everyone had them!).

Good taste and refinement will shine on everyone and people will acknowledge that persuasion is better than force.

This is a time to watch out that we do not become too indulgent (we don't want to go from one extreme to the next... remember Feng Shui is all about balance). The influence of the Rabbit tends to spoil those who like lots comfort and thus impair their effectiveness and sense of responsibilities.

Money can be made without too much labor. Our life style will be joyous and leisurely as we allow ourselves the luxuries we have always craved for. A relaxed year with unhurried pace. For once, it may seem possible for us to be carefree and happy without too many bumps in the road!

Go celebrate!
